The Phillips Lecture honors Associate Professor Emerita Dr. Sally Phillips, a former researcher and instructor in biomechanics at the UMD Department of Kinesiology. This year's lecture will be given by Dr. Peter Weyand, Professor and Chair of the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Christian University. Dr. Weyand's talk, "A sustained exercise in intensity: investigating of the upper limits of locomotor performance", will focus on his research using principles from mechanics to understand limitations on maximum-effort human locomotion, such as in sprinting.
